Although students tend to think that languages are difficult to learn, I believe that it is because they have not had the right teacher. I believe in instilling self-confidence so that the students I work with have the self-perception that they are capable learners. I am an experienced student in the languages and believe that I understand what it takes to develop the foundation skills of learning a language. I feel that once a solid foundation of knowledge has been built, the student is able to learn their subjects easier. My style of teaching combines rational and intuitive approaches to create a more friendly approach to learning. I work to provide a learning environment that focuses on immersion and involves the entire mind and body because it results in a longer lasting retention. I have experience working with students of all ages and levels of competency. I have worked in intensive English programs and provided proofreading for manuscripts being prepared for print. I work with students on professional readiness and job training. I am fluent in English, French, and Spanish and hold degrees in international relations, music, and a teaching certificate for English as a foreign language. I am a competent and dedicated instructor as well as a visual performing artist.
