Education
I have English and Communications BA degrees from Florida State University. Yes, I loved school so much I double majored. Graduated Magna Cum Laude. I went on to earn my MA in Literature from Florida State. While I completed my coursework, I was a Teaching Assistant in the First Year Writing Program. This meant I taught my own classes, graded papers, and created assignments while I was in grad school. I loved teaching.
Experience
After I completed my Masters coursework, I took a job in Communications, where I could enhance my writing skills in a business setting. The most exciting part of the job was working on the grant writing team. We wrote a successful federal grant, and I helped write grant reports to detail the state's use of federal funds. After that job ended, I took a job teaching First Year Composition at the University of South Florida. Teaching composition is incredibly rewarding. To watch a student learn to express herself in writing is exhilarating. During the semester, I met one-on-one with each student on two separate occasions. These meetings were the highlight of my semester. Working with a student one-on-one is my strength. Providing feedback and guidance and helping students convey their ideas effectively means that the students can then go out and help change the world with their ideas. Powerful stuff.

Hobbies
I love reading and writing. I also am into running (although running and I are on a break right now), yoga and general working out. I am a coffee fiend. I would rather spend my evening socializing with friends over dinner than going to a party. But my biggest hobby is raising my daughter, who is the most awesome person I've ever met.
