Experience
I graduated from Georgetown University with a BS in Foreign Service focused on International Economics. I got my International Relations MA from Johns Hopkins University where my focus was on Middle East Studies and International Economics. I began tutoring during my undergrad years and taught Geometry and Algebra in a community service program. I coach soccer and basketball. My coaching experience caused me to take a position as the teacher of a fifth grade class. When I was doing graduate work I was a TA in Microeconomic Principles. I like to teach math; I think it trains students to analyze and think critically. I tutor because I enjoy assisting people and that one-on-one connection. I work to mold my lesson plans to each individual student. I start by analyzing the student's, the teacher's, and the parents' goals. Then I learn what interests the student, and I help define weaknesses and strengths. Finally, we define what skills the student requires, and then I provide an encouraging and patient environment for learning. It is my belief that learning is the path to a successful life and academic career.I tutor my students in Algebra at all levels, Geometry, Elementary Math, Middle School Math, Reading, Writing, Phonics, Public Speaking, ISEE, Test Prep, and English. My hobbies are swimming, running, and playing soccer.
