Degrees are important to a certain extent. I do have a Master's Degree in Science Education from the Univ. of Southern Miss. I think becoming a published author is almost another degree in itself.
Experience
In the 1990's I was an 'ordinary' USA high school teacher. After that I started teaching, tutoring, mentoring, designing lessons in South Korea for students there for more than ten years. They are a very test oriented society. I've helped students get ready for every kind of test. I have worked with very young kids, to elementary, to middle school, to high school, of course university kids. And I have helped countless adult students too. Doing this has forced me to become an endlessly patient teacher. I can easily spot the problem areas and try to figure out ways to address and fix them with the individual student. I am a writer as well, and this allows me to use skills obtained in editing, to help kids see the various errors of their writing ways.
