Hobbies

I am a big animal lover who grew up in the country and I have been involved in dog and animal rescue for a number of years. I like the outdoors, hiking, and spending time with my family. My mother and I raised my ESE nephew, so I have see first hand the struggles of students with special needs and the obstacles they face by other individuals who "just don't get it." I say this because there is a misconception among many people regarding individuals with learning disabilities. Many people think that they just need to try a bit harder. Another misconception...that being learning disabled or having learning differences is related to low intelligence. Many people with learning disabilities are highly creative...and intelligent. Among these individuals are Albert Einstein, John Lennon, Tom Cruise, Whoopi Goldberg, Magic Johnson,and Andy Wharhol.
