I’m a graduate from Lake Highland Prep in Orlando. I attended Lake Highland for 15 years. Now I’m at Univerity of Tampa working toward my BS in Psychology.

Experience

I’ve taught through volunteering with FL Hospital’s “Be the Difference” program. I taught math to at risk kids with a partner at the New Image Youth Center. We had to cater our lesson plans to all elementary kids at once with no way of knowing who’s making progress or what level they are at. I also developed my own curriculum and have taught math among other subjects to kids at Boys and Girls Club. More formally, I taught at Mathnasium for about one and a half years and learned how to work with up to four different kids of different age and level at a time. I was also a student assistant during my senior year of high school in and Algebra 1 and 2 classroom. Boys and Girls Club eventually hired me and I taught the staffs kids one-on-one, but also k-5 in groups.

Hobbies

I play tennis and love to volunteer. I like to stay busy and I’m very organized and prompt about what I do. I love to teach for a hobby because it’s a great way to help others and keep myself busy while staying challenged. My style of teaching has grown based on my past learning experiences with a number of different teachers and tutors. I believe a tutor isn’t there to read a text book to you, but should be well versed in the material and be able to find alternate ways to explain the given concept. That’s my goal when I teach. And for this reason, I choose to teach what I know I’m best at.
