Experience
I have worked as a professional writer for most of my adult life, nearly 20 years. Now an award-winning freelance writer, I have published articles in several outlets, including newspapers and nationally circulated magazines. Some of the subjects I've written about include arts, education, business, state and local government, health, and fitness. I did graduate work at the University of Tampa, where I received a Master of Education. My enthusiasm for teaching came from being a journalist, where I routinely took complicated subjects and presented them in ways that were understood by others. Breaking down complex issues and building them back up in clear and understandable ways is a strong suit of mine, a skill that I was able to hone during my tenure as a writer for both newspapers and national magazines. I use this model for teaching, aiming to present this material to students in the most relatable way. This is especially true for anything having to do with the written word, both in reading and writing. I hope to convey my appreciation to others, as I feel my enthusiasm for these subjects is contagious. When I'm not tutoring, I enjoy practicing Kung Fu, writing fiction and poetry, and fishing.
